A relative newbie on the European Christmas markets scene, Liverpool's festive offering is in its 17th year meaning that it's some, oh, 500-odd years younger than Europe's oldest, which started off in Munich some time in the 16th century, or so we're told.
Christmas in Liverpool is the most magical time of year. The Christmas markets here often give more of a nod to the country's Scandinavian history, the Vikings, than the Germans, who usually get most of the credit for Christmas market traditions!
The Liverpool ONE Christmas switch-on is one of the biggest festive events in the city’s calendar and is expected to attract hundreds of families. The iconic 30-metre Christmas tree will reclaim its rightful position in the city centre.

Liverpool's Christmas market is set to be bigger and better than ever this year. There will be more than 40 rustic Christmas stalls selling food and drink from across four continents – including bratwurst, burgers, crepes and pick 'n' mix, alongside Christmas ornaments, gifts, handmade crafts and edible presents. Kids will love the Big Wheel and Bavarian Snow Slide at Santa's Village and adults will love the wide selection of bars including the tipi bar, ski bar and windmill bar. Local performers will entertain you with carols and sled-loads of festive cheer.

The Liverpool ONE Christmas switch-on is one of the biggest festive events in the city and is expected to attract thousands of people from all over Merseyside. Expect wide eyes as Liverpool ONE’s iconic 30-metre Christmas tree will light up the city centre. Thereafter, the Scandinavian themed bar Bar Hütte will open its doors to the public. This is your chance to experience a unique take on ‘Alpine Après Ski’, with each hütte attended by your own host. Bar Hütte offers 1 hour 45 minute time slots where guests can enjoy hot and cold drinks, including mulled wine and festive cocktails. It’s the perfect place for groups of friends and families to congregate and get into the Christmas spirit.
