Things to see and do in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is the place to experience the world’s largest arts festival, eat deep fried pizza, and watch Harry Potter fans play quidditch in the park.
Just like our self-catering apartments and townhouses, Edinburgh has a unique personality and that’s why we love it.
When it comes to food, chips (fries) count as one of your five a day in Scotland. Scottish people will deep fry anything so if your cholesterol hasn’t risen before you leave, you haven’t truly experienced Scottish cuisine. Locals love getting takeout fish and chips (known as a fish supper) or pizza crunch (deep fried pizza) from the local ‘chippy’. Having self-catering accommodation means that you can swing by the nearest chippy like one of the locals and take these “delicacies” home for dinner.
If you’re eating out, sample ‘cullen skink’, a thick haddock soup. Braver hearts should try haggis, which is sheep’s innards boiled with onions, spices and God knows what. You won’t have to look too far if you want to wash it all down with a decent glass of whiskey.
If you’re in town for fun, visit Edinburgh Castle, Old Town’s Royal Mile and The National Museum of Scotland, all super close to both of our properties. If you’re here for business, we’re a stone’s throw from The Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Whatever your reason for visiting this wonderful city, stay with us and we’ll help you to plan your itinerary.
