Award-winning Staycity Group is seeking further sites in Germany for its popular aparthotel properties as part of its mission to make Germany one of the company’s core markets along with Ireland, the UK, Italy and France.

“Currently our expansion in Germany is focusing on ‘A’ markets. We are delighted having secured two prestigious sites, totalling 350 apartments, in the heart of the German capital. In addition we are in advanced negotiations for another site in Berlin and a project in Frankfurt,” commented Markus Beike, Staycity Group Development Director Germany & CEE.

“The Berlin sites will be our first Wilde Aparthotels outside the UK, showcasing the concept to a discerning European audience. Berlin is a key city for us, having a fantastic mix of both leisure and business travellers. Ideal sites in key German cities will be close to transport hubs and either new-build or conversions with up to 12,000m2 of gross floor area,” he added.

The Wilde brand is being rolled out at premium European sites with its interior design focusing on luxury and comfort with a strong reference to the brand’s Irish heritage as well as the quirkiness of Irish playwrite Oscar Wilde. The first Wilde opened at Covent Garden, London in March 2018 to rave reviews with further Wilde properties set to open in the UK in Edinburgh and Manchester in 2019/20.

Dublin-based Staycity is Europe’s leading aparthotel operator, with over 4,500 apartments (pipeline and operating) across 10 major European cities and ambitions to take that number to 15,000 by 2022. A second site in Liverpool will open later this year while three sites have been secured in Manchester, giving the company over 1,000 apartments in the burgeoning UK city.

Additional sites have been secured in Disneyland Paris (284 apartments), Venice (175) as well as four sites in Dublin giving Staycity over 700 apartments in its home city.

“With its institutional covenant and innovative products, Staycity supports value creation in particular for core property owners, developers and investors via long-term fixed leases,” Beike said.

Aparthotels are gaining a huge following as a home-from-home, relaxed alternative to hotels. They are proving popular with both leisure and work away corporate guests, particularly those travelling with friends or guests with young families.
