Go green

From the swimming ponds of Hampstead Heath with its resident deer and parakeets, to the creepy dinosaur sculptures lurking among the woods of Crystal Palace Park, London boasts many weird, wonderful and highly ‘grammable’ green spaces to while away a summer’s day in. And at Wilde Covent Garden, you’re within walking distance of some of the best, including St James’s Park, Green Park, and Hyde Park. Simply pack a picnic and enjoy!

Get moving

Many Londoners rediscovered the simple pleasures of biking and walking during lockdown, and now you can enjoy them too. In fact, there’s never been a better time to do so, thanks to the Streetspace for London plan, which is creating more space to safely walk and cycle the city as it emerges from lockdown through the likes of widened pavements and new walking and cycling routes. Better yet, you can hire a bike just two minutes away from our aparthotel at Santander Cycles. Sorted!

Garden Delights

Our aparthotel is just a short stroll from the famed Covent Garden, which has been totally reshaped for safety. And while some of the usual attractions are yet to reopen, it’s still as buzzy, and there remains plenty to see and do. For starters, check out the new East Piazza rainbow seating area, which has hand sanitizer stations, comfy seats placed 2m apart and loads of delicious dining options. Fish and chips from Oystermen followed by ice cream from Venchi? Yes please!

Get stuffed

Foodies must eat their way through the UK’s most renowned and London’s oldest food market, Borough Market, which is easily accessible from Wilde (just 14 minutes by bike, 20 minutes by train, or 40 minutes on foot…). With over 100 stalls, shops and restaurants selling and serving everything from Calabrian cured meats to grilled seafood tortillas and top-quality British turnips, we strongly recommend you pace yourself during your visit. And wear elasticated pants. Oh, and don’t forget to buy lots of interesting ingredients to cook up a storm in your slick, fully equipped Wilde kitchenette!

Tourist trail

Like most major tourist destinations, London is gradually reopening, and that includes traditional attractions. Bus tours and river cruises are back up and running, while famous sites such as Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Saint Paul’s Cathedral and the Royal Botanic Gardens are reopened, soon to be followed by the likes of the Science Museum, The View from The Shard and Tate Modern. So, you can still do most of London’s usual tourist trail, just a little differently (i.e. by observing new safety measures). Just be aware that not everything is operating as normal, so check opening times and booking requirements before you visit.
