Holidays and travel are one, it goes without saying. It’s hard to get anywhere without having to take a train, a car or jumping on a plane. And, it is usually the latter, with its hecticness of the airport, space constraints on board and many more that can ruin even the first few days of your break.
However, there are some things you can do to avoid the stress caused by airport chaos and flight travel. In case if you are planning your holidays or even preparing to take a flight soon, I decided to write up a few tips that should help to make your travel stress free.
5 Tips for a Stress Free Flight Trip
- Avoid chaos at all cost.
Even if you feed on chaos in your daily life, and generally can find order only through it, try to prepare for your trip as much as you can beforehand. A simple list of things to pack can go a long way, so will packing wisely so that you do not have to repack your things at the airport.
- Get to the airport early.
Airports mean chaos, it’s a fact. With so many people passing them everyday, flights taking off and arriving every hour, queues to metal detectors and gates it is crucial that you arrive early to avoid all that. Most airport authorities these days recommend arriving two hours prior to your departure and from my personal experience, they are absolutely right in that.
- Follow the hand luggage instructions.
Hand luggage instructions change all the time. In the past, you could even take musical instruments or infant equipment on board. Today though, most airlines are putting restrictions on what you can take with you on a plane, so make sure that you follow those carefully. Nothing is more stressful as having your hand luggage rejected at a check out point.
- Try avoiding talking to strangers.
This may not sound too polite, I agree. However, being literarily talked to death by a person sitting next to you is not great either. On a plane, be nice to everyone but try not to engage into any conversations with your co passengers. Read a book, listen to music or relax in any other way instead.
- Have some money with you.
In the past I would never have any cash on me on a plane. But back then, a sandwich or a drink were free. Since you have to pay for anything now, make sure that you have some cash on you on board. Nothing is more frustrating as being thirsty or hungry and not having change to buy a drink or some food.
