Birmingham’s very own children’s comedy festival, the famous Gigglefest is back for the fourth time this year with a week of events, workshops, stand up comedy, contests and shows. Starting off this Saturday, the 11th of February, the festival brings up two of the most popular kid’s comedians, James Campbell and Tiernan Douieb. Not to mention the always wonderful Shoofly Theatre who this year will present TWO FOUR SIX EIGHT, a play based around numbers, teaching children how cool the numbers can actually be.

Apart from two workshops, the festival will feature clown shows, stand up comedy, laughter yoga and a Make ‘Em Laugh competition. All shows take place in the Centre for the Child.

In December last, the Edinburgh Zoo had welcomed two new residents to it’s already impressive list of animals, two giant Pandas named Tian Tian and Yuang Guang (translating Sunshine and Sweetie). Both are currently on display and you can come over to see the Pandas for yourself. But beware, given the enormous interest in the animals, the Zoo had introduced a special ticketing system for visitors, meaning that only a limited number of people can visit the Pandas each day.

For the fifth time in a row, Strictly Come Dancing, the BBC1 smash hit is back on tour in 2012 and on the 4-5th of February the show will be performed at the Echo Arena. Featuring a breathtaking line up of celebrities, the show is definitely not to miss if you are in the city.

With Daily Telegraph giving the show 4 stars and saying the it’s “the ultimate feel good show”, this years edition of Strictly Come Dancing is definitely a must see for anyone looking for some great time.

Joining this years line up of Jason Donovan, Nancy Dell’Olio and Chelsee Healey are the McFly star Harry Judd, Eastenders legend Anita Dobson, former footballer Robbie Savage and ex-Olympic swimmer Mark Foster.

Once again in May, the Scotlands most popular marathon, the famous Edinburgh Marathon will run the streets of the Scottish capital. As every year thousands of runners from Great Britain, Ireland and pretty much every corner of the world will pass the distance of just over 26 miles.

Some will do it to prove themselves, others for pure fun of it, many to raise awareness to various charities they support. But, not matter what their reasons are, the Edinburgh Marathon is already shaping up to be a great event.

When it comes to Manchester, one thing is certain, there are more reasons to visit the city on a short city break that you could imagine. In today’s post I want to present one of the best concert venues in the city, the famous Manchester Arena.

Opened in 1995, as part of city’s, unfortunately unsuccessful, bid to host the Olympic Games (in 1996 and 2000), the Arena is one of the busiest such places in the World. In 2007 alone the MEN Arena had “beaten” such venues as Madison Square Garden and O2 Arena when it cme to ticket sales! The Arena is also the largest such venue in the UK, with the capacity of 21000.
